Frequently Asked Questions

Why now? Why not delay the auction until the Fall?

We have made the decision to go forward with this portion of the gala festivities for several reasons.

How can I create a more social feel to a virtual event?

Our events are always focused on connecting with fellow congregants and enjoying each other's company. This event is no different! Check in with friends and your havurah about auction items! Many events will be scheduled in the Fall. Reach out to friends to see if they can attend with you!

We hope small gatherings will be possible on May 30th, but even if you can't meet in person you can still connect online! Set up a virtual meeting with friends to enjoy a glass of wine, bid on items as the auction wraps up and watch the tribute video. You can use zoom, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger or Google hangouts to connect with those who love Shir Hadash as much as you.

May 30 Gala Finale Program. Where's the zoom link?

You do not need to register in advance to participate. Our Program will not be streamed live on Shir Hadash TV or hosted in a group zoom session by Shir Hadash. On May 30, at 5 p.m., go to our May 30 Gala Finale Program page. Once there you will find links to our special video presentations, including our Tribute Video to Rabbi Aron and Shir Hadash. Each video has a separate link and may be viewed in any order and at your leisure. In between videos, take a break and get your last bids in on 32auctions, or make a donation to the New Song Relief Fund. After 9 p.m., we will post the winners of the Jar of Generosity drawing prize winners and the History Trivia Quiz Master.

Do you have to be a member of Shir Hadash to participate in the auction?

No! All are welcome to participate in the auction! This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to your community outside of Shir Hadash and invite them to participate.

When will in-person events be scheduled?

In our ever changing reality, we are giving as much flexibility as possible for scheduling events. Our sign up parties are a stable to Shir Hadash auctions and fan favorites. When it is clear that these gatherings can take place, the hosts will reach out to all guests to find a mutually agreeable date. Each host will try their best to accommodate all schedules.

I am an auction winner. How do I pay for my item?

Congratulations and thank you for your support! We will email you an invoice within 48 hours of the auction close, listing the items won and the amount owed. To make payment, you will be directed via a live link to the Donations and Payment page of the Shir Hadash website. Select payment option for the 2020 Gala Auction Fund and submit your payment.

I am an auction winner. How do I receive my items?

Your payment invoice will contain instructions on delivery/pick-up of the specific auction items won. Once payment is received we will mail physical gift cards directly to you. E-gift certificates, which will be used for sign-up parties, will be emailed to your Shir Hadash primary email of record. If you won a physical item, such as wine or a basket, you will be asked to use Sign-up Genius to reserve a time for a curbside pick-up of your items at Shir Hadash. Curbside pick-up dates are June 3 and June 4, from 4-6 p.m., and June 7, from 2-4 p.m. Items will be loaded directly into your vehicle by volunteers wearing masks and gloves to ensure safety.

I have more questions! Who do I ask?
